Welcome to Alpha Nu!
"Leading women educators impacting education worldwide."
We met on October 5, 2024 at the Cock and Bull at 9:30. Mary Lee Reiff from Americans for Native Americans – provided a wonderful and enlightening program about their many initiatives to improve the lives of the Native American Indians.
Our next meeting will be a Breakfast meeting at 9:30 on December 14, 2024 We will have our Bingo fundraiser for Grant-in-Aid. Playing cards will be sold for $5 or $10 dollars when you pay for the breakfast or at the meeting. To participate, bring a wrapped gift ($10-$15 in value) wrapped in seasonal, but not religious, paper. This is a fun and festive activity for a wonderful cause.

Write Read Write April 2024
Led by Kathy Gabriel, Alpha Nu members Joyce Bigley, Linda Scammell, Arlene Williams and Kathy Simmons recently spent an April afternnoon visiting the second grade classroom of Jennifer Preston and the third grade classroom of Rosanna Pirraglia at Holy Trinity Elementary School in Morrisville. These women had a mission: to gift student writers with free reading books according to interests they had expressed to Alpha Nu members in introductory letters. There was a buzz of excitement as each student's name was called to receive their gift-wrapped book and a letter from the teacher who had made the purchase. On the count of three, students unwrapped their books amidst smiles and oohs and aahs, and whether they began reading their sender's letter or the actual book itself, they were reading:-) This is a most gratifying literacy project coordinated with different classroom teachers every year. In an additional hope to encourage literacy, Kathy Gabriel presented two stacks of books to add to those already circulated through the school library. |
Linda Seifried and Alice Kirby made our service project, A Book and a Blankie, a reality with the delivery of 25 sets to the Help Center.
